Mariah Carey has wardrobe malfunction on "GMA"
Mariah Carey's appearance on Good Morning America on Friday morning (May 24) was slightly less than beautiful, or even #beautiful. The pop star suffered a (minor) wardrobe malfunction on the GMA outdoor stage at Rumsey Playfield in New York City, and then cursed on live television before bringing out Miguel to perform her latest hit.
As the 43-year-old singer chatted with host Lara Spencer, she began commenting on her sparkling Donatella Versace dress before showing that its back had completely split. "Oh shoot, now the back of my dress just popped," Carey said nervously. Spencer ended up holding up the right strap of Carey's gown before cutting to commercial.
When Carey returned, she was wearing a pink dress and quickly let out an "Oh shit!" before demurring, "You didn't hear that." Luckily, Miguel swooped in to save the day and assist the singer on a performance of "#Beautiful".
Carey fans will remember the singer's much more head-scratching live meltdown on MTV's Total Request Live in 2001, in which she arrived unannounced with ice cream and proceeded to go through a minor striptease in front of a flustered Carson Daly. Shortly after, Carey checked into a New York hospital for exhaustion.
"#Beautiful", the lead single from Carey's next studio album, moves up to No. 20 on this week's Hot 100 chart. The singer performed the new cut as part of a medley of hits on the American Idol season finale earlier this month. (Hollywood Reporter)
