Otis Sallid to direct, produce Christmas concert

The multi-faceted Mr. Otis Sallid has signed on as co-director/producer on 5x platinum recording super star, Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas is You Christmas concert, at New York's Beacon Theatre, December 15, 16, 18, 20 and 21st.

Mr. Sallid will work in partnership with the award-winning creative force, the incomparable and versatile Debbie Allen, to make this unprecedented appearance by Mariah, a truly memorable event. Best known as the creator of Smokey Joe's Café, the musical revue that broke records to become the longest running musical revue in Broadway history, Sallid will also pull double duty as director/choreographer of the Broadway Dreams Foundation NYC Showcase, Take It to the Limit, to be held at Queen of the Night at the Diamond Horseshoe in New York City, November 24th.

The Broadway Dreams Foundation provides a platform for talented young students from around the country to jump start their careers through a week-long intensive taught by Broadway's brightest stars and savvy industry insiders. This year Mr. Sallid will prepare the 47 students, selected by the program from five cities across the country, for their night before a group of Broadway's elite decision makers.

Sallid forged his career as a visionary during the music video revolution and has since translated his talents as director/choreographer to theatre, film and television projects, as well as to the advertising world where he has worked on high visibility, award-winning campaigns for Coke, Ford, General Motors and McDonald's, to name a few.

Last year he collaborated with director Kasi Lemmons on the film, Black Nativity starring Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker and Mary J. Blige. In prior years he has teamed with a host of noted directors, including Spike Lee on School Daze, Do the Right Thing, and Malcom X.

Much sought after and in high demand, Mr. Sallid's CreativeOtis production company was commissioned by the historic Apollo Theatre, to create a musical around the life and times of the godfather of soul, James Brown. Get on the Good Foot: A Celebration in Dance opened at the Apollo last year under Otis' artistic direction and has been on a year-long, cross-country tour, returning to home to the Apollo in early 2015.

Otis Sallid and his CreativeOtis production house are also working on developing several Broadway projects - one that teams sisters Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad together, and another that will team him with the comic genius of Wayne Brady.
