Mariah Carey gives fans tickets to Las Vegas show

Mariah Carey is coming to Las Vegas. This is not a drill, people. People Magazine reports the 44-year-old singer will enjoy an upcoming residence at Caesars Palace this year. In fact, in glorious diva fashion, Carey announced the news on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which featured something of a prank for unsuspecting super fans.

Carey, dressed in a maid's costume, surprised a group of people, telling them they would be going to her upcoming show. Carey also told the audience they too would be getting tickets to the Vegas event. ABC News has a bit more information for those who like their gambling and over eating with a side of live renditions of "Vision of Love".

According to the report, the concert, Mariah Carey #1s, will kick off on May 6. From there, the dates are as follows: May 9, 10, 13, 16, 17, 20, 23 and 24, and July 8, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 22, 25, and 26. As for price range, you are looking at dropping anywhere between $55 and $250. Not that this matters, because are a big spender in Las Vegas, a city that puts away the clocks and busts out the grand, shiny lights to keep you up all hours of the night.

Everything is bombastic and spectacular here, so it makes perfect sense to add Carey to the list of entertainers taking up space on billboards around town. Now the odd part in all of this is the timing, because Caesars needs a bit of sparkling press at the moment.

TravelPulse's Tom Bastek offered thoughts on Caesars Entertainment Corp and its recent Chapter 11 filing. In the article, Bastek assured, "Caesars won't close any of their resorts (of which Caesars Palace is just one), wont lay off a bunch of employees, and the day-to-day business will stay exactly the same."

Business as usual encompasses throwing a massive welcoming party of sorts for Carey fans who are undoubtedly checking their calendars to see when they can catch Mimi in the desert. The only people cringing at the moment are the other Vegas headliners who now have to contend with the marquee star packing her bags for Sin City. The rest of the contingent seems to be losing their collective stuff at the news, so batten down the hatches and prepare for Carey's moment in Vegas.
