Oh, her again

Familiar faces and names pop up at every turn among scores of new CDs in cascade of spring music releases. Is this 2005 or 1995? A glance at the list of new CDs arriving in stores this spring won't shed much light on the question.

With a slew of acts from the mid-1990s returning to the spotlight, including Mariah Carey, Garbage and Nine Inch Nails, gay listeners still have plenty to look forward to as warmer weather arrives, whether from old favorites or promising pop newcomers.

April sees an attempted comeback from Mariah Carey. The defamed diva was humbled by the disappointing sales of "Charmbracelet". But the new album, "The Emancipation of Mimi", is billed as a return to her signature big vocals.

Remixes of the single "It's Like That" are already showing up on some gay DJs' top 10 lists, so Carey may well lure back the dance-floor fans who fled after the train wreck of "Glitter". The album hits April 12.
