Hundreds gather to remember slain 8-year-old
| | Dymia Woody | | Hundreds gathered to remember Dymia Woody, 8, who deputies said was killed and sexually assaulted Tuesday morning. On Saturday afternoon, family, friends and classmates filled Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Greenville for Dymia's funeral. Dymia would have been a third-grader at Grove Elementary School.
Her former teacher, Martha Harper, said she'll never forget Dymia's smile. "All her classmates loved her. She loved to help and would do anything for anyone," said Harper. "Quiet, but excited to learn. I'll always remember her tapping me on the shoulder for things she needed help with."
Dymia's family said she loved running track, playing basketball and listening to music. Mariah Carey was her favorite, and on Saturday, Carey's single, "We Will Never Say Bye" was sung, which Dymia's parents said was her favorite song. (Fox Carolina)
