Mariah's backing puts sparkle into £188,000 champagne

Mariah Carey is endorsing a new, expensive brand of champagne. Angel costs £640 a bottle for non-vintage or £188,000 for a numbered magnum of 12-year-old vintage brut in a diamond-studded leather case. The 40-year-old singer's involvement is more than celebrity endorsement, however, as she has also invested in the company.

The champagne, from winemaker Patrick D'Aulan, is the brainchild of British businessman Stefano Zagni. He said: "I sent some bottles to Mariah for her wedding anniversary and she said how much she loved it. Now she's invested in us and she's part of the team."
