Has Mariah peaked with AIWFCIY? (59,135) by Kate from UK Legendary artists always seem to have a back catalogue that is respected by the public, but I never get the impression Mariah's is respected. I think it's because AIWFCIY really transcends everything, its reach just so massive and people just don't care about any other hits. It's as if she's a one hit wonder with that song and she doesn't have 18 number ones. This is from a UK perspective, so and I would love to hear your thoughts from the UK and around the world. Of course skinny isn't going to give her huge hits but I think Meghan Trainor and Adele are unfair comparisons because they have their youth on their side; something we all know is most valuable in hollywood - regardless of size. Career blemishes (55,879) by Kate from UK Do you guys think Mariah's career blemishes could ever out-weigh her successes? I know a lot of people have said MC is ruining her legacy about various things. Personally, I don't think it's possible. Nothing that Mariah could ever do can take away moments like when she walks down the stairs (dem legs) to receive Artist Of The Decade. But even on a level that isn't emotional (which I think it is more valuable) it's impossible to read about the 90s in music without seeing how she dominated the decade - Artist of the Millennium hello? Also, I think MC's life will be made into a film (maybe a little better than Glitter lol) in the far far future, like the film Gia. I mean I imagine movie studios putting together all the rumours about label drama, abusive husbands, fighting about rappers and all of the crazy highs of her career. Maybe I've been watching too many Mariah Carey documentaries lol. (Monday 10 August 2015; 2:01)

One song / Jennifer Hudson (55,449) by Kate from UK Fantasy remix, but the one where the original mixes with it. That's my way of getting both versions since I adore them both. This kind of ties in with the other artists topic, I was listening to Jennifer Hudson's latest album "JHUD" and I was thinking how much "He Ain't Goin' Nowhere" reminds me of MC's "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" and how "Just That Type of Girl" reminds me of "Make It Happen". Mimi L (54,071) by Kate from UK I know what you mean about songs be touted as the next number 1, and it of course has to do with expectation and everything Ardis said. There sure have been a lot of excuses over the flops, but alas, what can you do? Maybe Mariah and co know TEOM or even E=MC2 levels of success just aren't realistic and therefore released #1 To Infinity and combined it with Vegas as celebration of the number ones. They wouldn't release a #1s album if they thought MC would be getting a number 1 the next year. That doesn't apply to the original album though because it was a contractual thing. (Right?) It's not like it was a random coincidence that Mariah happened to be performing in Vegas just as Infinity was released. Sure you could say it was to promote the album, but the album is the theme of the Vegas residency.
